Manshoji
The temple was built in 1194, and is where general Minamoto no Yoritomo made a revival of Genji and had a memorial service for Yoshiaki Miura. 140 years later, a Zen Buddhist master revived the founding temple, it then converted to the Rinzai school of Buddhism during the Kenchou era (1249-1256), and is now a Zen temple. Within the compound are the national important cultural property “Yoshiaki Miura sedentary statue”, the Yokosuka City important cultural property the “Tengan Ekou sedentary statue”, “Honzon Kegon Buddha Statue”, and it is said that there is a large stump of a satsuki tree in front of the main shrine called “Yoritomo tamuke no hototogisu hana”.
