EVENT & NEWS

In order to let more people know the charm of sailing, sailing at sea experience events will be held at four venues: Enoshima Yacht Harbor, Yokohama Bayside Marina, Hakkeijima Marina, and Riviera Seabornia Marina, for elementary school students and people with disabilities (elementary school students and under 18 years old) living in Kanagawa Prefecture.

Participation is free. Advance registration is required, and if there are a large number of applicants a lottery will be held.

*All explanations at this event will be in Japanese.

 

【Experience event for elementary school students and people with disabilities (elementary school students and under 18 years old)】
※A parent or guardian must accompany you to the venue.
※Parents will not ride on the yacht.

■Held at Enoshima Yacht Harbor

Dates: Saturday, August 10, 2024 and Saturday, September 28, 2024

Location: Enoshima Yacht Harbor (1-12-2 Enoshima, Fujisawa City)

Capacity: 10 people per session

Contents: Experience sailing with an instructor using a Hansa-class yacht.

(The Hansa-class yacht is easy to steer as it can be operated while sitting facing forward, and is equipped with a heavy centerboard, making it a safe yacht with no risk of capsizing.)

*Applications for the events up to July have already closed.

 
■Held at Yokohama Bayside Marina

Dates: August 3rd (Sat), August 31st (Sat), September 14th (Sat), October 26th (Sat), 2024

Experience time: 9:00~/9:50~/10:40~/13:00~/13:50~ (80 minutes each, 5 sessions per day)

Location: Yokohama Bayside Marina (1 Shiraho, Kanazawa-ku, Yokohama)

Capacity: 7 people per session

Contents: Experience sailing under the guidance of an instructor using a Hansa-class boat. (The Hansa class is a yacht that is easy to steer because it can be operated while sitting facing forward, and has a heavy centerboard, so it is safe and there is no risk of capsizing.)

 
【Experience session for parents and children (elementary school students and their guardians)】

■ Held at Hakkeijima Marina

Date: Saturday, August 24, 2024
Experience time: 10:00-/13:00- (120 minutes per session)

*Registration begins 20 minutes before the start of each session.

Location: Hakkeijima Marina (Hakkeijima, Kanazawa Ward, Yokohama City)

Capacity: 6 groups, 12 people per session (elementary school students and guardians)

Content: Experience sailing using a cutter boat under the guidance of an instructor. (A cutter boat is a yacht with excellent stability and passenger capacity, with a hull based on a rowboat and equipped with two sails.)
*The experience content may change in the event of bad weather.
*Applications for the event until July have already closed.

■Held at Riviera Seabornia Marina

Dates: Saturday, November 2, 2024 and Saturday, November 16, 2024
Experience time: 10:00-/13:00- (120 minutes per session)
*Registration begins 20 minutes before the start of each session.

Location: Riviera Seabornia Marina (1286 Koajiro, Misaki-cho, Miura City)
Capacity: 10 groups, 20 people per session (elementary school students and their guardians)
Content: Experience sailing under the guidance of an instructor using a Hansa-class boat. (The Hansa class is a yacht that is easy to steer because you can operate it while sitting facing forward, and has a heavy centerboard, so it is safe and there is no risk of capsizing.)

 
【About application】

■Application acceptance period
・Applications for the August event: 9:00 a.m. on Monday, June 3rd to 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 16th
・Applications for the September event: Early July to mid-August
・Applications for the October event: Early August to mid-September
・Applications for the November event: Early September to mid-October

*The event may be canceled after registration due to bad weather, changes to the event method, or wind and wave conditions on the day, and may be canceled after you have arrived. Please note.

*If there are a large number of applicants, a lottery will be held. The results of the lottery (whether you win or lose) will be notified approximately 10 days before the trial session.

*Trial sessions for people with disabilities (elementary school students and older and under 18 years old) will be held at Enoshima Yacht Harbor and Yokohama Bayside Marina.
