Oiso Sagicho

Oiso’s Sagicho is Seeno Kamisan fire festival, which is designated as a national important intangible folk cultural property. It is also called Seetobaree and Dondoyaki.
The origin of this fire festival is that a long time ago in this area, a misfortune god known as the One-Eyed Boy was going around writing down the deeds of the villagers on a ledger, but when night fell, he hurriedly left the ledger with Seeno Kamisan and went home. It is said that the story began when Seeno Kamisan, who was in charge of the account, was so troubled that he burned the account along with his house.
On the day of the fire festival, nine large cone-shaped sites are created by cleaning up the bamboo shoots and karayas around the town, carrying the collected decorations and lucky charms to the beach.
When the sun goes down, nine fires are set on fire, and if you roast dumplings on the fire and eat them, you won’t catch a cold. When the burnt sashimi flies high, your arms will rise.If you bring back pine embers and put them on the roof. It is said to be a spell to ward off fire.
